A number of people have mentioned that there favorite database has not been included. Thing is, I am not really interested in building a comprehensive list – I wrote this post as a part of an exercise at Directi to understand the space and I thought it would be useful to share the research. IMHO there really is not much value in building a big list unless you spend a lot of time and energy to maintain it, since new products are constantly being built, and existing ones are constantly evolving (or dying out). Unfortunately I cannot spare that kind of time or energy. So if anyone is interested in taking over this content and build a wiki or something out of it, and keep it updated, I am most happy to contribute.

Thanks folks for all your comments and feedback. Would like to see more details on HBase :) It's good to have metrics to compare these "NoSQL" databases. Leads to structured discussion.

You may be interested in our new data platform at Drawn to Scale -- we take a wider perspective than a single database. Our platform handles processing, storage, serving, and real-time querying and search. It's easy, and scalable.

Sort of the "best of all worlds". At least, we think so :)

This is tasty — I’m surprised I haven’t seen it until now! Would like to see more details on HBase <img
